Saturday, October 10 — on the way to a wedding in St. Pete, Sarah and I stopped in Tampa to see Alyssa. She took us to Giancarlo’s in North Hyde Park, right by the University of Tampa and an easy hop from downtown.
Nice day, so we sat outside on the patio under the lights and fans. Murals on the walls, cafe energy, the whole “you found it” vibe. We peeked inside too — loungey gallery wall, chess table, pink glow — cool even though we stayed outdoors for the meal.
Food: 8.9. Brunch hit. I am a huge omelet guy, and mine with tater tots was really good — two thumbs up. Sarah got an omelet with avocado (and a little fruit bowl) and loved it. Alyssa went full classic: scrambled eggs, toast, sausage, home fries. All three plates landed. Iced coffee rounded it out. Fresh, filling, exactly what you want before a long wedding day.
Service: 8.0. Seated outdoors without fuss. Friendly enough, no drama, nothing that stood out as elite or broken. Solid Saturday brunch service.
Atmosphere: 8.9. Vibey, hip downtown-adjacent spot. Patio works when the weather is good; interior looks like a place you could hang for coffee, happy hour, or a later night with TVs. Easy college-weekend play — kids bring parents for brunch, hang for a bit, roll to campus or downtown. Highly recommend for that use case.
Knup 8.6 / 10. Five-star Google night for us. Would happily come back next Tampa visit with Alyssa.

Stopped at Giancarlo's in North Hyde Park with our daughter Alyssa on the way to a wedding in St. Pete — right by the University of Tampa / downtown Tampa. Nice day, so we sat outside on the patio. Food: All three of us crushed brunch. I got an omelet with tater tots (I'm a huge omelet person — this one delivered). Sarah's omelet with avocado was excellent. Alyssa went classic eggs, toast, sausage, and home fries. Everything tasted fresh and looked sharp on the plate. Iced coffee was a nice touch too. Service: Smooth seat outdoors, no drama. Friendly enough for a busy Saturday brunch without feeling rushed or ignored. Atmosphere: Hip, vibey spot — murals outside, cool lounge energy inside (gallery wall, chess table, that whole look), TVs, and a patio that works when the weather cooperates. Feels like the kind of place college kids bring parents for a weekend visit, with happy hour later if you want to hang. Highly recommend if you are near UT or downtown Tampa and want a solid brunch/lunch stop. We would come back.
