Saturday we drove to Tampa to help our oldest son, Drew, move. Lunch was McAlister's Deli — easy, sit-down-ish, chain deli food. We score it honestly: not bad, not memorable.
Food: 6.0. I had something like the Fiesta chicken sandwich with potato salad and sweet tea. The tea was the win — McAlister's pushes their world-famous sweet tea and it delivered. The sandwich and potato salad were just okay. Portions felt a little low. The sandwich wanted more sauce; the potato salad was there but not interesting. Drew was not impressed either. Sarah liked her salad — she was the happy one at the table. Average plates across the board for the rest of us.
Service: 7.5. Nothing to holler about, nothing to complain about. Orders came out, staff was fine. Middle-of-the-road deli service.
Atmosphere: 7.5. Normal chain deli room — a notch above fast food, nothing you'd pick for a date night. Fine for a move-day lunch with family.
Knup 7.2 / 10. Sweet tea saves it from feeling like a total miss. We'd stop again if we needed something quick in Tampa, but we would not go out of our way.
