Friday lunch date at Animal Kingdom — not a full park assault. About twenty-five minutes from home, in around 10, out around 1. Four hours, Africa morning, Tusker House, done.
Parking was organized and getting in was easy. Plan was simple: stay near Africa because our 12:35 reservation was at Tusker House.
First stop: Kilimanjaro Safaris. Still one of our favorites — different every time. About a forty-minute wait this morning, then a strong run: animals out, giraffes running downhill, baby giraffe, baby elephant, lions. Knup 8.7.
Then the walkthrough — Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail. Bird sanctuary and waterfalls were neat; we caught an adult gorilla and a younger one. Overall quieter than the safari. Knup 7.5.
Lunch was the headline. Tusker House seated us early, the buffet looked sharper than our last character dining stop, and the food quality was high — even if African sauces are not my personal jam, the meats and desserts delivered. Mickey and Daisy visited, kids nearby lost their minds in the best way, and we left with a postcard signed by the characters. About seventy-five dollars with tip for the two of us. Knup 9.1 — and good enough that we knocked Hollywood & Vine down a notch in hindsight.
Out by about 1:00 p.m. Short Africa morning, big lunch, easy drive home. Exactly the pass-year date day we are trying to collect.
