Friday lunch date at Tusker House in Animal Kingdom — another higher-end Disney character buffet on the pass year, this time with an African-inspired spread in Harambe.

Reservation was 12:35. We checked in early and they sat us immediately. That alone beat our last character buffet wait. The room felt open and cool — real air-conditioning after a morning in Africa — and the buffet was clean, spread out, and packed with food without feeling cramped.

Atmosphere: 9.0. Fairly quiet for a character buffet — easy to talk, not a loud cafeteria roar. The characters still make the day. Mickey and Daisy came by for photos; kids at nearby tables lit up the same way they do everywhere Disney puts characters. A few more were still on the rotation when we left — we did not wait them out. Cool touch: a postcard signed by the characters (Mickey, Daisy, Donald, Goofy). That small souvenir turns lunch into an event.

Service: 9.4. Waitress was sharp. Early seating was the win, and she passed the refill test twice — empty drink to full refill in under a minute each time, no asking. That is the move. No drama, no long lobby hold. Exactly what you want when you already spent the morning walking.

Food: 9.5. Real quality across the board — clean stations, lots of options, meats done right. African-inspired plates are not my personal favorite cuisine (the sauces and curry side of the buffet are not what I chase), but the meats carried it for me: salmon again, spicy North African meatballs as the plate of the day. Sarah loved a cornbread item and a lot of the spread. Desserts were dangerous — we each tried six to eight. Malva bread pudding was my favorite; Sarah loved the guava mousse; cake and Mickey cupcakes too. About seventy-five dollars total with tip for the two of us. Pricey. Worth it for this visit.

Knup 9.1 / 10. Better character buffet than Hollywood & Vine for us — which is why we recalibrated that one down after this lunch. We would book Tusker House again.
