Friday date night at Hollywood Studios — dinner reservation at Hollywood & Vine, and we walked into Minnie’s Halloween Dine already in full swing on August 21. Strange for late August, but the characters and food made it worth it.
We checked in on the phone about twenty minutes early. Still waited roughly forty minutes total — seated about twenty minutes after our reservation time. The lobby was busy and the seating is cafeteria-style: you can end up next to strangers at a shared table. That is the trade for a character buffet in Echo Lake, and we knew it going in.
Atmosphere: 5. Halloween décor, themed menu talk, and Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, and Goofy all visiting our table for photos and selfies. That is the whole reason you book this over a quiet booth somewhere else. The room feels like a bright Disney cafeteria — not intimate — but the characters turn it into an event.
Service: 5. Attentive without being pushy. Drinks stayed filled. My Arnold Palmer went empty and came back in about five and a half minutes — I clock it because refills matter on a buffet night when you are trying to pace yourself. Annual passholders got 10% off and Kermit the Frog magnets at checkout. Nice touches.
Food: 5. Roughly sixty dollars a person before the discount, and we ate like we were trying to win a competition. Buffet guilt is real — you take a little of everything and suddenly you are thoroughly stuffed. Standouts for me: the veggie soup, ham with German mustard, and glazed salmon. Sarah loved the Brussels sprouts, salmon, and corn-and-bean salad. Desserts were dangerous: peach cobbler, brownie pudding, cookies, Halloween cupcakes, soft serve with Mickey sprinkles. We should have stopped. We did not.
Ryan 5 · Sarah 5. Pricey, shared seating, and a long wait on a Friday — none of that knocked the score down because the experience delivered exactly what we wanted for a date-night character dinner. We would book again, maybe on a quieter night or with lower expectations on the wait.
