Original Content Rewards is not a vibe. It is a filter. Eligibility gets you to the door. The application asks you to prove the last month of your feed was not recycled junk. That changes how I think about every post in a 10–20-a-day chase.

I already made the public scoreboard public in 500,000 Verified Impressions on X Is My Dangling Carrot. This post is the next layer: what the program actually seems to require, how the acceptance process works from someone who just got in, and what that means for the mix I am running while I catch up from waiting too long to take X seriously.

Exact labels and fine print can move. I am training against the bar in front of me — not pretending I work at X.

The qualifications I am training against

The eligibility picture that keeps showing up for Original Content Rewards looks like this:

  • Active Premium / Premium+ / eligible paid tier — I already upgraded. That story is in Why I Finally Paid for X Premium+.
  • Account in good standing — boring hygiene, still a gate.
  • Around 500 verified followers — I am close.
  • 500,000 verified Home Timeline impressions in 90 days — the carrot. Replies do not count toward that threshold the way original posts in the Home Timeline do.

That last line is why volume alone is a trap. You can spam replies all day and feel busy while the scoreboard that matters barely moves. Same lesson as posting is not marketing — activity is not the outcome.

What the application process looks like (from someone who just got accepted)

Someone who just got into Original Content Rewards shared the process after people asked. This is their experience — useful, not gospel, and worth treating as a working map until X publishes something clearer.

  1. When the program is open and you are eligible, you can apply.
  2. During the application, they check whether your account is verified. If you were already in the older Revenue Sharing program, you were already verified in that sense.
  3. They surface random posts from roughly the last month of your posting.
  4. You select 10 posts from that set. Text, image, or video can count.
  5. Those ten need to be original content — your work, not recycled culture.
  6. You get a confirmation email after submitting.
  7. Accepted → confirmation. Rejected → rejection email, with one appeal. If the appeal fails, wait 90 days before applying again.

They were clear about what not to pick for those ten:

  • Memes
  • Movie / film clips
  • Celebrity photos or videos
  • Reposted content
  • Anything that is not your own original work

Nobody outside X knows the exact scoring of those ten posts. That is fine. The practical takeaway is brutal and simple: if a random month of your feed cannot produce ten clean original posts you would proudly defend, you are not ready to apply — even if the impression number looks close.

Read the Impressions Goal

My current mix while chasing 500k

I am more worried about the content I am putting out to get to 500k than about the Premium checkbox. Right now it is a mix of roughly 10–20 posts a day. A normal day can look like this:

  • Good morning
  • Showcasing my numbers and the pursuit of X creator / rewards
  • Asking domain people to show their top domain in a niche
  • Asking to connect with people in my industries
  • 2–3 meme posts
  • 1–2 domain for sale posts
  • 1 blog post showcase of mine
  • 1 review or news showcase from Knup
  • 1–2 sports thoughts
  • A few build / systems thoughts
  • Random other things
  • Good night

That mix is honest. It is also a tension. Some of it builds relationships and reach. Some of it is filler. Some of it might help impressions and hurt the “prove originality” month if I am not careful.

What Original Content Rewards changes about that mix

Quantity still matters for the 500k gate

Half a million verified Home Timeline impressions in 90 days is a volume-and-resonance problem. Silence does not get you there. Neither does only posting once a week of perfect essays. So I am not dropping to three posts a day and hoping purity saves me.

But quantity without originality is a different kind of failure: you grind to the number, open the application, and cannot find ten posts that are cleanly yours.

Quality now has two definitions

Quality for impressions: does this original post land in Home Timelines with verified accounts?

Quality for the application: if X randomly surfaces this post in my selection pool, am I proud to pick it as one of my ten?

Memes can get engagement. They are also on the “don’t select” list for the application sample. Domain for sale posts can be original business content — or they can look like spam if they are thin. Good morning / good night can be human — or empty calories. The program forces me to ask which bucket each post belongs in before I hit send.

Type: original > recycled

Text, image, and video can all count if they are mine. What does not belong in the “safe ten” pile:

  • Memes I did not create
  • Celebrity or movie clips
  • Straight reposts
  • Anything I would be embarrassed to defend as my work

What does belong — and what I want more of in the daily mix:

  • Build thoughts and systems takes (Knup voice)
  • Sports thoughts that are mine, not clipped highlights
  • Blog / news / review showcases that point to work I actually published
  • Transparent creator-chase updates (the screenshots and the pursuit)
  • Industry connection asks that are specific, not generic “like and RT”
  • Domain prompts that create conversation — not only “buy this domain”

Schedule: keep the rhythm, upgrade the ratio

I am not throwing away the daily cadence. I waited too long on X once. Maintenance beats another restart — see I Keep Restarting Marketing Instead of Maintaining It.

What I am changing is the ratio inside the 10–20:

  1. More posts I could put in the ten. If a random month got sampled tomorrow, I want more than ten safe options.
  2. Fewer posts I would immediately disqualify. Memes go from “2–3 by default” to “rare, or not at all while I am in proof mode.”
  3. Original posts over reply-only days. Decks still matter for relationships — X Pro decks stay — but Home Timeline originals pay the eligibility meter.
  4. Business showcases that still sound like me. Blog, review, news, domain — fine, as long as the post is a real take, not a naked link dump.

A simple filter before I post

Three questions. Ten seconds. Saves 90 days of waiting after a failed appeal.

  1. Is this original? Would I select it as one of my ten?
  2. Is this aimed at Home Timeline impressions? Or is it only a reply / only a ritual greeting?
  3. Does this help Knup, Ideal, Sports Mentorship, domains, or the chase — without being junk?

If the answer is “meme for dopamine,” it probably does not belong in the season where I am trying to qualify.

What I am not doing

  • Pretending I already know X’s internal scoring
  • Quitting volume overnight and calling it strategy
  • Turning every post into a sales pitch
  • Waiting for Punk to automate a posting habit I have not cleaned up manually first

Manual clarity first. Automation later. Same rule as the Premium+ build.

Schedule the showcases — write the originals

Blog, news, and review posts can be batched. The X originals still need a human filter for the rewards season.

Final thoughts

Original Content Rewards means my posting strategy has two scoreboards now: verified Home Timeline impressions to qualify, and a month of originals clean enough that ten random-eligible posts do not make me sweat.

I am still posting a lot. I am just done treating memes and empty greetings as free. The 500k carrot is real. The application sample is real. The 90-day wait after a failed appeal is real. So the mix gets stricter — not quieter.
