Friday, October 9 — a mid-morning to lunch date with Sarah at Animal Kingdom. We had a reservation at Yak & Yeti and wanted a short park day around it. The park had other plans.

It was a super hot day and the place felt packed — fall break energy, people everywhere. Lines were bad as soon as we got through the gate. That mood stuck. We wanted Kilimanjaro Safaris, but the wait was too long, so we skipped it and wandered toward the Tree of Life instead.

First stop: Zootopia: Better Zoogether under the big tree. Long line, claustrophobic cave queue, then seats that killed the 3D effects. Knup 3.0 — mid at best, and seating really matters in that theater.

From there we kept walking into Asia for the Maharajah Jungle Trek. Cool bat, not much else out — maybe the heat. Scenic walk if that is what you want; not something we would hunt down again. Knup 4.5.

Then the Wildlife Express to Rafiki’s Planet Watch — Conservation Station, reptiles inside, kangaroos and wallabies outside, Bluey crowds with little kids everywhere. Train plus the station together land at Knup 6.0. Fine if you like a quieter animal walk; not our cup of tea on a hot packed Friday.

Lunch saved the day more than the attractions did. Yak & Yeti on the second floor — lettuce cups to start, solid mains, fortune cookies at the end. We waited longer than usual because it was slammed. Food was good; we were not in a great mood, and that showed in the score. Knup 7.2 — not a favorite, not the worst, probably not a repeat.

Overall trip: Knup 6.0. Short date day, bad heat and crowds from the jump, skipped the safari, middling attractions, okay lunch. We have done it.
