Sarah and I are always hunting lunch spots where we can eat well and still get a little work done. Canvas Restaurant & Market is about a block and a half from our house in Lake Nona — we can walk it in minutes — and we do not go nearly enough. We picked it for lunch because it was close, the dining room looked workable, and Foxtail Coffee is attached with a lounge if we needed more spread-out laptop space afterward.
We were seated right away at a window table overlooking the lake. That view alone sets the tone. Lunch hour was busy — moderately loud with conversation — but not overbearing. We could still talk and work without feeling like we were in a nightclub.
Service: 9.8. A waiter and waitress tag-teamed the table (one looked like she was training, one was clearly running point). They crushed it. Bread to start — I do not remember that from prior visits, and it was a nice touch. Orders correct, timing tight. I timed a drink refill: about forty seconds from empty to new Arnold Palmer on the table, and they did not ask — they just showed up. That is my favorite waiter move, especially early in the meal.
Food: 9.1. Sarah went with her standard farmhouse salad — she always likes it here. I am a sucker for meatloaf on any menu, so I got the meatloaf sandwich with a side of fries and an Arnold Palmer. Drink was done right. Sandwich was above average — good bread, really good fries — with a slightly dry bite in the meatloaf itself, not enough to ding the place hard, just honest. The Arnold Palmer was about six bucks, which feels a little steep for lunch, but everything else landed.
Atmosphere: 9.4. Lake Nona energy without trying too hard. Window seats, natural light, walkable from home. A step above a typical lunch counter — and priced like it (~$25–30 per person before tip) — but you get the view and the service to match.
After lunch: We moved to the Foxtail side for a bigger table, opened laptops, and kept working. That combo — real lunch inside, coffee-shop spread outside — is why this spot stays in rotation for us.
Knup 9.3 / 10. Not the cheapest lunch in Orlando, but a very good one a short walk from home. We will be back — especially when we want the lake view and a Foxtail work session in the same trip.
