Be Our Guest

Be Our Guest has been on Sarah’s list forever. Friends kept telling her the Beauty and the Beast restaurant was the one. We booked it for this pass year and treated the rest of the Magic Kingdom afternoon as the walk to lunch.

Reservation was 1:15. They put us in the main hall of the castle — the room where the Beast holds court — at a table looking out over the whole space. Quiet. Romantic. The Beast came through about every thirty minutes, did a short beat, and kept moving. That is the show you are paying for, and it worked.

Atmosphere: 9.5. It feels like you are inside the movie without the character-buffet chaos. You can talk. The room does the work.

Service: 9.6. Locked in from the start. Attentive, no misses, the kind of table service that makes a pricey Disney lunch feel like a restaurant instead of a reservation you survived.

Food: 9.6. Soup first. I had French onion with cheese — ridiculous, in the good way. Sarah’s soup was right there with it. They call the steak the best at Disney. I ordered the black-pepper steak and I agree. I am annoyed I never photographed the plate. Dessert is the part Sarah came for: “try the grey stuff.” I did not know that line. It arrived as a rose you tear open, and the grey stuff is a mousse inside. We also got crème brûlée. Both were excellent. Pricey, which every castle lunch is. I do not dock the score for a check we already expected.

Knup 9.5 / 10. Best Disney restaurant of the pass year — ahead of Tusker House (9.1) and Chefs de France (9.0). We would book it again.
